Distribución y hábitat
Gamochaeta purpurea is presumably native to North America (Nesom, 2006) but is also known from Mesoamerica and the Carib bean Islands (Pruski, 2018) and South America (Dil lon & Sagástegui-Alva, 1991; Freire, 1998; Jørgensen & León-Yáñez, 1999; Luteyn, 1999; Freire & Iharle gui, 2008; Jørgensen et al., 2014; Pruski, 2018; Flora e Funga do Brasil, 2023). It is introduced in the Ha waiian Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Af rica, Madagascar, and Asia (Drury, 1971; Scott, 1993; Phiri, 2005; Chen & Bayer, 2011; Alford, 2012; Kumar et al., 2015; Rono et al., 2023). Gamochaeta purpurea grows in the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal, Appalachian, and North American Prairies provinces (Takhtajan, 1986; Thorne, 1993). It is frequent in ruderal habi- tats, commonly growing in sandy soils, roadsides, fields, and clearings and edges of forests, at elevations from sea level to 2500 m.
